Course Date: November 10th till December 8th
Course duration: 5 weeks
Location
We are located at 30N Long Island drive, Frankston. Please enter through our Gates at the car park or walk around to the beach and come through our front doors.
Learn2Sail participants will meet at Frankston Yacht Club, club rooms at 8:50 am for a 9:00 am start.
Parking
There is plenty of parking located at the front of the clubhouse. Please ensure that you read the signage for times and any payment required.

What To Bring
Sailing Gear Checklist:
o Bathers, rash top and board shorts
o Wetsuit (if you own one)
o Sailing gloves
o Shoes to be worn on the beach and in the water
e.g. Wetsuit booties or old runners
o Waterproof/windproof jacket to wear on the water
o Sunscreen, hat and drink bottle
o Towel and a change of warm clothes to go home in
o Life jackets (PDF Type 1) will be provided to all participants. (you are welcome to supply your own)
A great way to make sure you have all of this is to have a sailing bag. Dedicate a bag that you will put only your sailing gear in - that way you’ll never forget anything.
Toilets & Change Rooms
Frankston Yacht Club does have toilets and change rooms with hot water for showers after sailing.
Canteen
Frankston Yacht Club runs a canteen with a wide verity of food. The canteen is open from 11 am – 2 pm.

Course Overview
This course aims to provide children aged 7-12 with a fun, safe and affordable way to get into sailing.
Course Prerequisites
- Water confident
- 7-12 years-old
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to have fun and learn the basics of sailing through games on and off the water.
Course Outcome
By the end of the Tackers 1 course, the participants will be able to:
- Steer with tiller extension under towing paddling power
- Tie a figure 8 knot, round twice and two half hitches
- Tack (push turn)
- Gybe (pull turn)
- Reach around a figure of 8 course using both tacking and gybing
- Sail with tiller extension
- Sail upwind and downwind by following the safety boat
You will gain your Tackers 1 completion certificate.
